How codex entries reach the AI
Aliases, detection, the four context modes, and how to check what a generation actually used.
The codex isn't a static reference shelf — its value is that it enters the AI's context automatically. Here's exactly how.
Aliases decide what can be "seen"
Highlighting and automatic inclusion work on alias matching, not fuzzy semantics.
- Creating an entry automatically makes its name an alias, so a new entry is recognised in the manuscript immediately.
- Renaming the entry moves that alias with it.
- Other names for the same thing (nicknames, titles, epithets) you add yourself under the Settings tab.
Matching is longest-first, non-overlapping and case-insensitive.
The four context modes
Each entry has an AI context mode under its Settings tab:

| Always include | Goes in on every generation. Good for world rules and magic systems — things that apply everywhere. |
| Include when detected (default) | Goes in when its name or an alias appears in the text or your instruction. Right for most characters and places. |
| Exclude when detected | Not added automatically even when detected, but you can reference it explicitly at generation time. |
| Never include | Never given to the AI. For your own notes and spoilers. |
The default plus automatic aliases means most of the time you configure nothing.
Timelines don't spoil the future
A character's Timeline tab records how they change (psychology, body, relationships, circumstances), each note anchored to a scene.
When generating, the AI only sees notes anchored at or before the current scene. You can write a character's whole arc up front without chapter three leaking chapter twenty's ending.
Checking what was actually used
After a generation, "this generation used N context items" appears below the prose; expand it for the full list.
When output goes wrong, start here: usually something that should have been included wasn't detected (a missing alias), or something set to "always include" is dragging in noise.
Creating entries in bulk
- AI 生成 Codex: paste a character sheet or setting notes and the AI splits them into draft entries you choose from.
- While planning: the plan generator has "生成相关设定", which extracts characters and places from the outline.
- Brainstorm: set the target to Codex and apply an idea directly as an entry.
